Stoney Cove is a large flooded quarry in Leicestershire, about a 90 minute drive up the M1 from London, that has been divers practice and playground since the early 60s
With a diving depth of up to 35m and a selection of submerged wrecks to explore it is one of the most popular dive sites in England.

Water temperatures of up to 18 degrees Centigrade in the Summer allow the use of semi dry or even wet suit but in the Winter it gets really cold: coldest I experienced was 2 degrees with ice and snow on the ground:
